The dynamism of the semiconductor ecosystem in Asia

Penang lies on the northwest coast of Malaysia, overlooking the strategically important Strait of Malacca. Located halfway between Singapore, Bangkok and Kuala Lumpur, this city is a natural crossroads for Southeast Asia, a place where people, ideas and technologies converge and interact.

From above, the city appears as a mosaic in which tropical nature, an industrial skyline and urban settlements coexist harmoniously. However it is only by looking more closely that its true identity emerges: a production ecosystem that has become a world reference point for microelectronics since the 1970s. The arrival of the first multinationals has in fact started a path of continuous growth path that has made Penan one of the global capitals of semiconductors.

Today, this highly integrated district is home to more than 500 international companies all contributing to a supply chain that encompasses production, testing, assembly and advanced automation. This ecosystem is capable of not only responding to the growing global demand for chips, but also of driving innovation in a sector that is an increasingly crucial sector for the world economy.

Semiconductor Asia Summit: Connecting Ideas, Powering Growth

In this dynamic setting, the Semiconductor Asia Summit – Connecting Ideas, Powering Growth, one of the most important events for the protagonists of the supply chain, took place.

On 5 and 6 March 2026, industrial leaders, technology experts and institutional stakeholders came together to share their visions, strategies and perspectives on sector growth, fostering new, high-value collaborations.

The event reaffirmed the essential role of synergies between companies, institutions and research centers in addressing the technological and production challenges of the coming years, and our participation was a significant milestone for:

  1. compare ourselves with some of the sector’s most innovative companies
  2. strengthening strategic relationships and partnerships
  3. identify new development opportunities
  4. observe the evolution of the Asian market closely
  5. investigate the trends that will shape the future of the semiconductor industry
